Joseph was loved by many and was a true example of what a real man and father should be. He was a man of his word, especially when it came to family. He had a great sense of humor and would always say or do something to bring a smile. He loved to travel and loved his cars. Anyone who knew him would know he changed his car every couple of years.

“Joe” as he was called by everyone, had a special place in his heart for his wife of 58 years. He had a special relationship with daughter and granddaughter that was irreplaceable. There was nothing he would not do for them but most importantly he showed them what it meant to be truly loved. He had a great sense of humor and would always play jokes – especially on his daughter.

Joe graduated from Samuel Gompers High School in Bronx, NY. His studies included an automotive program. After graduating, he worked at Harlem Hospital as an orderly, General Motors, NYC bus driver, and finally became a NYC Police Officer and retired from the NYPD in 1988. He enjoyed his retirement traveling with his wife after relocating to Palm Coast Florida. His daughter would ask him “What do you do all day?” He would respond, “Nothing. I am retired.” He always had something to say that would make you laugh and he will be missed dearly.

Goodbye To My Dad

By Debra Marie Stratton-VanBuskirk
Adapted and dedicated by Joseph’s daughter, Chris Sanders

Goodbye Daddy, I had to say
I’ll remember the good times and try not to be sad
But saying goodbye still hurts so bad
I miss you more than I can express
My love for you will never grow less
I keep trying to imagine how I will go on
I realize tomorrow is another dawn
I know you’re in heaven above
Looking down on us with all your love
Only to whisper in my ear
Pumpkin, Remember that I’ll never stop loving you
I’ll always remember the good times we had
Remember the man, my wonderful Daddy
I’ll remember you each and every day
And if I need to talk to you, I’ll just sit down and pray
One day we’ll be together again
To talk about all the places we have been

Having you for a Dad was the Best a daughter could have

You Never Said Goodbye

Author Unknown

You never said I’m leaving
You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why.

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

I was told stories about Mr. Tuggle that he was a no nonsense person. When I finally met him, I experienced a man with an extremely funny sense of humor, kind and yes no nonsense, but in a caring and kind way. He was always dressed to the nine and walked like he was the coolest person ever – hence I started calling him Ron O’Neal – Super Fly because he was always fly – LOL! Thank you for making me feel like a part of the family. You will be missed Mr. Tuggle.

My deepest condolences are extended to the Tuggle family.

Uncle Joe; as I called him, was one of my parents closest friends. As we were all from Queens, NY, when my father retired; my parents decided to move to Palm Coast, FL and near Aunt Dot & Uncle Joe. They enjoyed their retirement living and casino visits together. Uncle Joe was one to make you laugh and could always be THE resource for the newest cars. He also loved “gadgets”! From major electronics, to small items of convenience; he was always the first to purchase.

Most importantly Uncle Joe was a family man! He loved, provided for, and led his family as a real man should! He exemplified every aspect of what a husband, father, uncle, and friend should be.

Rest In Peace Uncle Joe.
